I'm still trying to figure out how to get the anticheat to work on our servers. Just says ANTICHEAT: Attempting to reconnect to anticheat server... Do we need to open a certain port or have our server ips added?

Any help much appreciated....

The five avatar gestures in Quake2 are flipoff, salute, taunt, wave and point. Invoked with the wave command, "wave n" where n is 0 through 4.

I guess this is just the reality of the situation then, I just wanted to throw the idea out there in case there was another way around the false detections.

In the future I'll make a point of asking people which AV software they are using when they mention anticheat.dll as being flagged, then report it accordingly.

Sadly anti-virus software is just broken. They aren't analyzing the actual file at all, they are just scared by the way it is packed and default to making up some scary sounding malware detection for it. I don't intend to change the packing method as it is working well, except for the fact that anti-virus software is broken. The DLL has not changed for some time as updates can be done server-side now, so maybe if we submit enough false positive reports it will get fixed... I tried that some versions ago and got bored very fast Smiley.

I reported the anticheat.dll to Kaspersky labs, and now is not considered a virus/trojan anymore Wink

From what I understand, some AV scanners don't like how the file is packed. I presume this is to prevent people from trying to hack the DLL. It could be that there is no other way of doing this without getting flagged by certain AV software, I just thought it might be worth looking into.

For now I've removed anticheat.dll from my installer and added an option to download it from the anticheat website instead. I just think it's unfortunate that new players may be scared off when their AV software tells them that they have malware on their system. The situation is made worse when servers require anticheat to connect, or deny newer clients unless they anticheat, which keeps many people locked into using the anticheat system with outdated clients.
