I've downloaded r1q2 with the webinstaller, so I have r1q2, r1gl and also the anticheat module installed in my q2 dir. When I connect to a server I get the message on the screen that I need to download an anticheat - which I have done..
I've also run the updater to ensure all files are updated.
What could I be doing wrong?

Do you actually run r1q2.exe or do you maybe still use quake2.exe?

I run the r1q2.exe file.

Edit: the thing is, when I've just connected to the server (before I actually get in, but while loading map so to speak) the console says: "Loading anticheat, this may take a while". No errors or such, it looks normal. Could this be a setting on the server (tastyspleen)? Will it take a while in game before it's loaded properly?

Edit2: This is the output I get when I run the R1Q2Updater.exe:
Code:
R1Q2Updater v0.0.6
(c)2004 r1ch.net

Checking versions:
r1q2.exe (Win32 Client): already up to date (b7322)

r1q2.pdb (Debugging Symbols for Win32 Client): already up to date (b7322)

dedicated.exe (Win32 Dedicated Server): not installed

dedicated.pdb (Debugging Symbols for Win32 Dedicated Server): not installed

r1q2ded (Linux Dedicated Server (for new mods)): not installed

r1q2ded-old (Linux Dedicated Server (for old mods)): not installed

r1q2ded-x86_64 (Linux Dedicated Server (x86-64)): not installed

anticheat.dll (Win32 r1ch.net anticheat module): already up to date (:))

  ref_r1gl.dll (Win32 R1GL): already up to date (0.1.5.39)

ref_r1gl.pdb (R1GL Debug Symbols): already up to date (0.1.5.39)

dbghelp.dll (Microsoft Windows Image Helper): not installed

Press ENTER to exit.

Make sure Q2 has full permissions on your firewall. It needs to be able to connect to anticheat.r1ch.net (65.98.84.18 as of right now). Try pinging that IP, it should reply. Does it take approximately 5 seconds for the 'Loading anticheat' message to finish?

Yes the anticheat.dll is in the Q2 dir.

I can ping anticheat.r1ch.net, but is it some special port that I need to open in my firewall?
Yes I'd say it takes roughly 5 secs for the "loading" message to finish.

The 5 seconds indicates that the connection to anticheat.r1ch.net failed as it has a 5 sec timeout. It uses port TCP 27910, you can test connectivity by using telnet - start, run, cmd
telnet anticheat.r1ch.net 27910
If you get an error, there is a problem. If it goes to a blank screen, close telnet as the connection worked OK.

Heheh, I only had UDP open on 27910! Problem solved!
Thanks a lot for your time! Grin
