Windows Version   Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (Build 2600)
DirectX Version     9.0c

I renamed anticheat.dll to .bak and r1q2 does not crash.  I re-downloaded everything from r1q2-websetup.exe, still it crashes.

I run r1q2 from gdb, here is the output:

Video card: nvidia 8600 GT
Antivirus+firewall: Eset Smart Security v4

I dont't get any message when r1q2 crashes.
In the Event Viewer there is no log entry that corresponds to R1Q2.

Should I upload the .pdb files ?

Not intending to interfere with the troubleshooting but this line:

"d:\apps\quake2\anticheat.dll": not in executable format: File format not recognized.

Suggests a corrupt anticheat.dll or possibly your A-V product is silently interfering with the loading of the dll. I am not sure mingw would support the file format either.

I would suggest putting anticheat.dll in the exceptions list in your ESET.

Try to open the anticheat.dll in Notepad to verify that it is not being blocked by anything. Also check your Quake 2 folder for an anticheat-debug.txt, if it is present please post it here.

it seems the problem is when loading r1q2 from the all seeing eye

hmm it happens when I load r1q2 directly too Sad

I can open anticheat.dll with notepad++, I added anticheat.dll to the exception list.

Still no luck.
