I've got a problem with anticheat getting locked in a loop,
and it never finishing loading. I've just avoided using it
until now, when all gloom servers are requiring it.

In any case, I'm pretty sure I know the root cause of what's wrong:
I'm running Debian Linux, and running R1Q2 under Wine.
Everything's been working fine for me (R1Q2 works _beautifully_ under wine)
but if I add in anticheat.dll, it just hangs, and never finishes loading.

If anticheat isn't going to support wine, then I guess I'm gone from gloom cry
If it can be fixed, though,  I'd love to quell my growing gloom withdrawal.

As far as what I'm running, as of 2006-10-11, I ran R1Updater,  and
have what I think are the latest versions of everything:

   r1q2.exe version b6870
   r1gl.dll version 0.1.5.35
   anticheat.dll version Smiley

My system itself is running Debian/Etch, using Wine version 0.9.21

If it helps at all, this is the debugging output wine gives when I try to connect...

   fixme:process:IsWow64Process (0xffffffff 0x34fc94) stub!

...and those last 3 lines repeat with variations in the hex values for next 5 hours,
which was how long I let it run, just for the heck of it.

Hope someone can help!

I'm pretty sure due to how the anticheat works it's not going to function under Wine. I'm surprised it even got as far as it did Smiley. If the server is forcing anticheat, you should consider asking the server admin to add an exception for you since you're using an unsupported OS.

I was afraid of that. Thanks for the advice, I'll go hunt down some admins.

BTW, R1Q2's great... 200 fps under wine,
even beats the standard debian quake2 client running natively (about 160 fps)

Wish I could run anticheat, want quash those nasty hatchie-bot rumours Smiley

You IP has been added to exception list. You can play without anticheat now.
