I was running EGL w\ AC just fine, but for easier diagnosing purposes I've done all of my testing with R1Q2 b7322 and anticheat.dll dated 5/4/2007, 788kb. 

My problem is upon trying to initialize anticheat.dll, I am denied the connection to the server.  In EGL, the screen refreshes, and goes into an infinite refresh loop until I press Ctrl+Alt+Del to kill egl.exe.  In juxtaposition to EGL, this is the log verbatim I get from b7322 and anticheat.dll:

The only server I ever access in Q2 these days is Tastyspleen JumpMod server any how, but I would "really" like to be able to use anticheat.dll with EGL 0.3.1....most of the time I use EGL for JumpMod, and R1Q2 for deathmatch mode and such. 

Computer Specs:

ASUS A8N-E running Opteron 165
2GB Corsair XMS PC3200 DDR
Sapphire brand ATI Radeon X850XT w\ 256MB
Windows Vista Home Premium
etc etc etc.


Background programs I usually run:  AIM 6.1, uTorrent 1.6.1, XChat 2.6.9b, AVG Free 7.5.467, ATI Control Panel, and ASE.

Also note, running ATI Catalyst 7.4 drivers for Vista.

EGL AC support is not the best in the current version and from that log your problem seems to be using ncgl rather than r1gl . EGL uses embedded gl and R1Q2 doesn't. You should download r1gl from http://www.r1ch.net/stuff/r1gl/

P.S. I had that when I was using vista 64bit, solved reverting to 32bit. EGL doesn't do OS verification prior to AC usage which R1Q2 does..

Using EGL on a server running both anticheat and HTTP downloads will go into an infinite loop due to a bug with the early reference implementation. R1Q2 with a valid renderer (q2 3.20 ref_gl, ref_soft, NCGL 2.32 or 2.40b2 or R1GL) should work just fine, it is likely your ref_gl file is an invalid version. Use the version from the 3.20 patch and you should be good to go.

On my initial testing with 64 bit so far, there appear to be no incompatibilities stemming from running the 32 bit R1Q2 under WoW. R1Q2 refuses to load anticheat.dll on 64 bit until further testing is done, EGL has no such check.

emperphis:  Thank you for the advice...I can use R1Q2 with AC now as long as I use R1GL as the renderer, just need to get myself some extra crosshairs and I'll be good to go. Smiley

R1CH:  I forgot to mention I was running the 32bit version of Vista and not the 64bit, but it's no matter.  I understand now I just need to wait for Echon to release a new version.  Thank yas.

Oops.. haha, I've been messing around in 64 bit Vista so I automatically assumed it was 64 bit Smiley.
