We got client named R1Q2, its better than any other client if we observe playablity, but when it goes to graphics i must say that there are many other q2 clients where graphics are VERY MUCH better, i was just thinking if R1ch could do some improvements like gl_particles "1" command for making better looking blood etc, reflective water and maybe md3-model support? it would be fucking awesome, but R1ch is it possible to you take some time and work with these things, if you do i think that soon R1Q2 would be most popular Q2 client.

As far as I know, R1CH developed R1Q2 to be as "pure" as possible.

From http://www.r1ch.net/stuff/r1q2/:

"R1Q2 is an enhanced client/server for Quake II. Based on the id Software 3.21 source, rather than concentrate on fancy graphics, embedded MP3 players and other 'gimmick' features, R1Q2 is focused on providing stability, security and speed whilst remaining fully compatible with existing mods and other clients."

And that's what makes it so great. wink

Yeah right, "speed"... Try running it on a laptop with an Intel integrated graphic card, normal Quake 2 runs ok, R1Q2 with R1GL gets about 10-20 FPS. I ran this game smooth on a Pentium 90 in the old days... Speed. Hmpf

R1GL will by default load hi res textures and stuff, if you have paks with them, R1GL of course is going to run slower than plain ref_gl.

I've got a 1,8 Celeron Acer with Intel 940 gfx and 512 RAM it runs awfull Sad

Not really a problem, I still got my old stationary which runs it fine, but still it seems real strange about the laptop.

Some things to check:
Make sure you don't have the video monitor output turned on and no monitor connected. It can slow down refresh.
Try tweaking your adapter settings and zrefresh mode.

"New texture lighting code from JDolan / Quake2World. Disabled by default, control with gl_texture_lighting_mode 1 to enable. New cvars, gl_contrast and gl_saturation to control amount of contrast and saturation"

it would be nice, if gl_saturation 0 influenses on textures, but not on the models. with gl_coloredlightmpa 0 wall would be a black & white, and the players and objects remained colored, rather than B\W as it is now.

This will be included on the next update.

Double the graphics power is crazy. Props to AMD for continuing to create great cards. Because of their success, competition with NVIDIA has really picked up.
