I just updated r1q2 today and I also get the same error.  Can you give me a link to the older build without this problem, thx

The problem is with the mod you are playing or something deeper. An older version will just mask the error which is responsible for random crashes amongst other things. Try this to help catch the error:

set dbg_crash_on_fatal_error 1
set err_fatal 1

(reproduce error)

You will then get a crash dump generated. Simply attach or paste the crash dump .txt here (do not upload it when prompted, manually initiated crashes are not saved). Please make sure you have dbghelp.dll and r1q2.pdb alongside r1q2.exe, available from the main download page in the R1Q2 client zip.

You may have a special pak file with something in it,that is causing it perhaps. I never played that mod but went to your IP up there and after a few long downloads was able to get in with no errors at all. Here is the config it made for me see if that helps any..  No paks in my action dir but Pak0 and Pak1 from 97 and 98 in baseq2 dir guess the originals...

Oops, I meant the .dmp.gz file not the report Smiley. If you still have that it would help.

just grabbed this build to check it out, and found the new cl_drawfps_x/y maptime_x/y and it would be better if both the fps and map time had the same starting y value, as for some strange reason there not independent, i used cl_drawmaptime_x -32 to raise it above the lag-o-meter and maptime sat right ontop of it, fps counter how ever was still about 4-6 pixels higher than it should and i tried a few fps_y settings and it dint do anything Sad

edit:btw rogue plasma gun perfect Cheesy

I can only conclude your drivers/memory or something else is very broken. The new build I posted here has traps in every function that generates particles that will crash with a 'bad color' message if the color is out of range. It's impossible for an illegal particle color to make it to V_AddParticle now, yet you still keep crashing there. The fact that it isn't reproducable with a demo is also a very big clue as to some other external failure, demos contain a dump of the network packets received and which particle effects are generated, thus if an illegal particle effect is specified, it would be reproducable.

Last try... redownload (should be b6592), paste the error message (not crash dumps).
