first i use my usual 'action quake2' shortcut, which adds the parametres: +set game action

then in the console i type "map kent.dm2", how i usually load aq2 demos.

then windows gives me the crash window, offering debut/send report/dont send report.

i think you should be able to reproduce the bug, as i dont think it is mod dependant. i could load the demo fine using id software's quake2 v3.20

if there's anything i can do, in terms of producing bug reports etc, let me know smiley

I seem to be able to load demos fine in AQ2. If you could copy the error details from the application event log (Run / eventvwr.msc) or attach the demo that is causing the problem it would be helpful. Although it may not fix it, the 'demomap' command is the correct way to play back demos and should be used instead of 'map'.

for a bit of extra information, that gamex86.dll is ETE 4.7. but i dont think the problem lies with the game dll, because like i said before, id software's quake2 loads the demo with no problem. i have uploaded the demo for you at http://members.optusnet.com.au/huewilson/kent.dm2

The baseq2/gamex86.dll you are using is not the id standard DLL. R1Q2 will always load the baseq2 gamex86 for demo playback to avoid inteference from DLLs which have timer-based events or other issues with demo playback. Restore the 3.20 gamex86.dll to baseq2 and it should be fine.

ahh good spotting r1ch. normally i wouldnt have the ETE .dll inside baseq2 AND action, but thats the way the axion standalone aq2 client comes.
